麻豆传媒画映 held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Pine Building addition and renovation. Elected officials and community partners joined WCC leaders, faculty, staff, and students for the ceremony.
The Pine Building underwent first-floor renovations and has added a custom lecture hall to provide more space for classroom instruction and campus events. The construction project also included paving the building鈥檚 gravel parking lot.
The renovation enables growth in WCC鈥檚 nursing department, allowing the College to accept more students into its limited-admission nursing programs.
During the ceremony, WCC President Patty Pfeiffer spoke about the expansion project and the College鈥檚 role in training more nurses to fill vital jobs in healthcare. 鈥淲e acknowledge our responsibility to contribute to the workforce in our local industries, and this ceremony is a recognition of that commitment,鈥� she said.
WCC Nursing Department Chair Michelle Garon shared how important the project was to the nursing students and instructors. 鈥淟ooking at this beautiful new lecture hall and walking through the renovated first floor makes us proud of our new area, but most importantly, it reminds us of what it truly represents, which is the ability to impact more lives,鈥� Garon said.
Daniels and Daniels Construction and Moseley Architects served as the building and design firms for the project.
Jeremiah Daniels, president of Daniels and Daniels Construction, noted the possibilities and opportunities for WCC students in their new state-of-the-art facility. 鈥淭his is such an amazing place to learn and study,鈥� he said. 鈥淲e are incredibly honored to be a part of this team with 麻豆传媒画映 and our design partners.鈥�
Craig West, vice chair of the WCC Board of Trustees, concluded the ceremony by highlighting the project鈥檚 benefits to the College and to Wayne County. 鈥淭his entire construction process has created a tangible reminder that 麻豆传媒画映 is poised to meet the workforce training needs of its community,鈥� he said.
